The Most Complimented Nail Varnish...Ever?

Ciaté Sugar Plum is the one nail varnish that whenever I wear it, I get so many compliments on. I don't know what exactly it is about this colour, but it always seems to be a crowd pleaser.
The same effect would also happen with pretty much the exact shade of this but in Revlon's Lycra collection. Everyone (well girls...) that sees it would always say how much they like it.
Essentially, it's just lilac.
Also, as a side note, please ignore the chipped nail; I could get all philosophical on you here and comment that that was intentional and it is there to signify that nobody is perfect and we all have flaws...but I'll just let you judge :')

What do you think of this colour?

Getting Into The Spirit Of Things

I have been absolutely loving the Commonwealth Games this year and I can't say that I have ever really paid much attention to them previously...
However this definitly meant a time to show my support through nail varnish; of course!

Come on England!

Possibly The Longest Lasting Nail Varnish...Ever?!

I recently posted about my Naples Kiko haul, and in it I bought a nail varnish called 'Cupcake'. This was in the sale and it is a really pretty pale pink colour with different coloured speckles.
Now at the time, I had nail varnish on and so couldn't really test it so I just bought it. When I then tried it, I discovered that it is not at all what I was expecting. It does not dry smoothly for starters. It dries with matte finish and has a texture similar to texturised wallpaper... Now I know what you're all thinking, gross.
BUT
I put this on over a week ago, and there is ONE CHIP. ONE. AND I HAVE BEEN TO WORK. This is also, might I add, without a top coat.
Whatever this effect is, it is damn good. I really am not sure what the effect is called, unless Kiko have just called it 'Cupcake', I don't know. But all nail varnish addicts out there should definitely try it! I am beyond impressed with longevity. It must be the gravel. Or the cupcake. ...

Now just so that you can get a real feeling for what the texture looks like, here's the above photo with standard HDR settings on; now you can really see that it is not at all smooth!

Would you use this nail varnish?

A Day In The Life #3 | Birthday Goodies!

So some of you may be aware that it was my birthday a couple of weeks ago and I was completely spoilt by my family and friends. I wanted to blog all of the lovely things that I received, it has just taken me some time...
Get ready for a picture heavy post!

So here are some bits; as you can see it is a mixture of amazing beauty products and percy pig...
From left to right: keyboard stickers, Mac lip gloss, Moleskine Diary, Percy Pig sweets and cake mix, Nail Art Set (buzzing to try!), Bicycle necklace, Hello Kitty Sweets, Sisley eyeshadow and eyeliner pencil and of course some stickers.

My sister also sent me a box of lovely goodies! Most of which were Moomin related; if you follow me on Twitter, you'll probably know that I love Moomins.

From Mother... this beautiful gold Claddagh ring which I have been wanting for years

And of course my lovely kitty cats sent me this Vaseline pouch as they know I am always losing it.

I hope that you found this interesting; if you're nosy like me then I love seeing what people receive for birthdays and Christmas etc!

Box Swap | 2013

That's right, my friend Emily and I went a did a box swap. And it was such a good idea! We both really loved what we got the other and so of course, as it was beauty related, I needed to blog about it. It is also a really good idea for birthdays or even Christmas (that's right, get organised for this year!)

Emily's Box:

For Emily I chose some products that I really love and wanted her to also love! I went with the MUA Undress Me palette, an Essie Mint Candy Apple dupe which was by Sinful Colours, the Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer, Burt's Bees Mango Lip Balm and some of her favourite sweets: Percy Pigs.

I re-used a Glossy Box for Emily's box.
Sorry for the poor lighting here as well!

My Box:

Emily got me some lovely things; I was really pleased! Mine included some thermal socks, a lovely purple throw (so cosy!), a Barry M lipstick in 151; a beautiful red coral shade, a Glitter nail varnish, some earrings from River Island and the AMAZING L'Oreal Skin Perfection Water Cleanser.

I hope this gives you some ideas for a box swap!
